I recently received a DUI in Los Angeles and I am wondering what's the next step?
- Hello; You have already answered your own question from my experiances. You absolutely need a lawyer. The lawyer will figure out what kind of a case you have or do not have. Look in the yellow pages, on - line, or preferably, ask a friend or relative for a recommendation. Here a laywer runs about $150. 00 for a first time DUI. For me they have had DUI's reduced to careless driving, and speeding reduced to defective equipment to save points on my license
- First time DUI offenders are fined $250. 00 to $500. 00 dollars but with the speeding ticket the fine could be $1000. 00 to $1500. 00 dollars, court fees plus you must attend a DUI education course, higher insurance rates and points. better get a lawyer
- You should hire an attorney. In California a DUI will eventually cost you in the area of $5000 - 7500 by the time it is all over with
